Hazards associated with working at heights are one of the leading causes of injury and death in Ontario workplaces. Both the Industrial and Construction regulations mandate that workers be trained in the preventive measures, procedures and the safe use of personal protective fall prevention and arrest equipment before working at heights.

As of April 1, 2015, mandatory approved working at heights training will be required in the construction sector. Mentor Safety Consultants Inc. is a Chief Prevention Officer approved provider of the Working at Heights Training Program.

Mentor Safety Consultant's Working at Heights, Fall Protection program is 8 hours long (the course length may vary depending on class size and ability) and consists of:

Module 1 Working at Heights Basic Theory Module (4.0 Hours)

  • Rights and Responsibilities
  • Identification of the Hazards of Working at Heights
  • Eliminating or Controlling the Hazards of Working at Heights
  • Warning Methods and Physical Barriers
  • Ladders and Similar Equipment
  • Personal Fall Protection Equipment

Module 2 Working at Heights Practical Equipment Module (4.0 Hours)

  • Barriers and Safety Nets
  • Personal Fall Protection Equipment
  • Anchor Points
  • Work Positioning Systems
  • Work Access Equipment
  • Platforms Rescue Planning


An Evaluation - All participants will be required to complete and pass a written test.
